The topic of sustainability is here to stay. Today, sustainability at business events encompasses far more than just regional and seasonal catering or environmental protection: adherence to sustainable standards with regard to the social aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR), employee comfort and compliance has become just as much a focus as sustainable economic activity.
According to the Meeting- & EventBarometer survey 2019/2020, more than 45 percent of German event venues already had a sustainability management system in place in 2020. In the same survey, more than a third of event organizers stated that they prefer providers with a sustainable certification system when booking.
On the following pages, event planners and providers in the event market will find extensive information on the sustainability megatrend, training opportunities, current research findings, relevant events and certification programs. We also present how sustainability is implemented at the GCB.
