The Stuttgart region: Home to the world’s first automobile

The Stuttgart region, home to the world’s first automobile, still today can claim to be the world's leading center of the automobile industry

Research and training facilities exist for almost all the relevant key and future-oriented fields of vehicle technology. Stuttgart University is home to leading research centers and faculties, and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) operates its own institute on the campus for innovative vehicle concepts.

Stuttgart is the home of premium vehicle producers Daimler and Porsche, and Bosch, the largest automotive supplier. The Porsche Museum and the Mercedes-Benz Museum are prime venues for meetings and events, and factory visits and local speakers are always popular for meeting and conference groups.

In 2017, Stuttgart will host 30th International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS), a significant international event focused on electromobility and organized by the European Association for Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles.
