Stuttgart Becomes Global Capital of E-Mobility in 2017
As the home of the world’s first four-wheeled car and motorbike -- not to mention a hot spot for green mobility and fuel cell technology -- Stuttgart will also become the global capital for electric mobility when it hosts the International Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS30) in 2017.
As it’s done with the automotive and IT industries, Stuttgart has a knack for linking the world-leading innovations and technologies coming out of its universities, R&D labs, and companies … with world-class conferences and meetings.
E-mobility is no exception.
Since 1996 Stuttgart has hosted the f-cell conference initiated by the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation to foster alternative energy solutions for mobility. Over the last 3 years, the event has accelerated into the World of Energy Solutions conference which now includes the f-cell and Battery + Storage events and draws around 3,000 expert delegates from 30 countries.
Taking place each October at Messe Stuttgart, the World of Energy Solutions conference and exhibition features unique experiences like an electric vehicle Ride & Drive program, with the Porsche Boxster E, BMW i8 and VW Golf Electric. In 2016 delegates also visited the Stuttgart Airport to check out the world’s first four-seat passenger aircraft powered solely by a hydrogen fuel cell system —the Hy4.
Behind this show is a strong set of partners including e-mobil BW - State Agency for Electric Mobility, Fuel Cell Technology Baden-Württemberg, Fraunhofer Research Institute, and universities, as well as many specialized associations and leading local companies.
Building on the success of this conference-- and with Stuttgart’s government in support of the growth of alternative energy solutions for a sustainable future – Stuttgart has also now won the bid for the International Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS30) which will be co-located with World of Energy Solutions October 9-11 at the Messe Stuttgart. Working together, the Messe Stuttgart, the City of Stuttgart, e-mobil BW, and Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation beat out a tough line-up of destination candidates to host EVS30.
The event will draw academic, government and industry leaders from around the world, creating a platform to explore and understand the technical, policy and market challenges in shifting towards the use of electric transportation technologies.
Together EVS30 and World of Energy Solutions will tap into Stuttgart’s historic and continuing best practices in mobility and transportation, and bring the world’s big thinkers together to help shape the future of e-mobility.
When work is done, just a quick ride away lush vineyards and landscapes feature memorable settings and many options for touring and networking programs.
