Munich – Bits & Pretzels Founders Festival: Digital Innovation meets “Gemütlichkeit”

The Bits & Pretzels annual business festival took place from Sept 25th - 27th 2016 in Munich, drawing attention to more than 5,000 international business entrepreneurs and high-brow investors from the Start-up ecosystem.

A start up success story itself, Bits & Pretzels which is only 2 years old, started as a local breakfast networking event of Munich Start-ups and has grown at warp speed into a trendsetting platform for global digital business and emerging technology entrepreneurs  and savvy investors.

It is essentially “THE” place to be to learn and share knowledge, jam on ideas and make valuable connections... not to mention to take in some of the world class Munich “Gemütlichkeit" or “hospitality” and culture.

The Bits Factor

This year's festival program took place at Munich’s International Congress Center ICM. The program featured a combination of key note speakers targeted to key markets, meaningful panel discussions, individual workshops and many networking opportunities, all set on multiple “stages” and in various formats.

Highly anticipated VIP Key Note Speakers including Kevin Spacey and Sir Richard Branson didn't disappoint and set a great tone for inspiration, motivation and building excitement for business movers and shakers.

Additionally, the more experienced attendees were able to connect, empathize and offer a hand up to newcomers with – early stage founders getting on stage as part of the new Start-up pitch competition. This is a just added Bitzs & Pretzels where young Start-ups vie for investors and audience support and awareness.

The Pretzel Factor

Bits & Pretzels started back in 2014 with a traditional Weisswurst and Brezn business breakfast at “Löwenbräukeller”, one of Munich's well-known beer halls. To stay true to their roots, this year's organizers focused on a balanced festival program including sufficient time for more informal networking and knowledge sharing as well as business charged sessions.

The networking goal was reached by setting up a diversified 2-evening connection program. While attendees were brought together on the first night for a huge after-party at the “Praterinsel”, an impressive event-venue that was a former liquor/spirits factory, the second night was filled with more intimate networking events spread all over the Bavarian capital.

Day 3, the crescendo of the program, combined local tradition with digital innovation by hosting more than 5,000 guests at the world famous Oktoberfest. A great “Isar Valley” get-together consisting of well-known investors, speakers and mentors serving as table captains and hosting small groups of entrepreneurs.

The innovative Bits & Pretzels business festival program 2016, organized by Startup Events UG, was a strong combination of professional knowledge transfer and social networking in an ideal destination. Its rapid and successful growth as an event sets new standards for the meetings and conventions business and proves once more the importance of global business exchange.

This year's attendees were highly satisfied with their individual ROIs from the festival and are already looking forward to new Bits & Pretzels in 2017 (Sept 24 – 26, 2017).
