Meeting Experts Conference (MEXCON 2018) in Wiesbaden

MEXCON participants to join the international meetings industry as the first guests in the new RheinMain CongressCenter in June 2018.

The city of Wiesbaden in the Rhein-Main area is hosting the next Meeting Experts Conference (MEXCON), taking place from 20 to 21 June 2018 in the RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC). After a three-year construction period the RMCC is set to be one of the most innovative conference centres in Germany when it opens in spring 2018.

Criteria in architecture, technology and sustainability

The RMCC provides a stage for inspiring talks and sessions exploring the conference’s themes: future and innovation. Representatives of the meetings industry are set to experience the latest media and events technology at the centre. The RMCC is also making waves in the area of sustainability. At the start of construction it received the platinum award from the German Sustainable Building Council and is supporting the sustainability code for the meetings sector "right and fair ". The venue for MEXCON 2018 also has the advantage of good accessibility on account of its central location in the Rhein-Main area close to Frankfurt Airport.

Wiesbaden after Berlin - the next MEXCON location

Next year’s MEXCON will also host the Summer Meeting of the ICCA Central European Chapter. The Chapter is one of the largest within ICCA.

The conference organisers explain the reasons behind choosing Wiesbaden as the new host city:

"MEXCON has taken place three times in Berlin since 2012 and is now firmly established as a major feature in the German speaking meetings landscape. The switch to another host city underlines the broad base of the meetings sector in Germany. A large number of different sized cities contribute to the success of the meeting destination Germany and MEXCON gives them the opportunity to present themselves to the industry", explains Matthias Schultze, Managing Director of the GCB German Convention Bureau e.V.

"As the new location for conventions, the RMCC is the perfect venue for MEXCON in 2018: with its highly modern architecture it perfectly illustrates the themes of the conference: future and innovation", adds Joachim König, President of the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC).

Martin Michel, Managing director of the RMCC says: "We are very happy to be hosting MEXCON 2018 in Wiesbaden as the first post-Berlin venue. The events sector can look forward to a brand-new, highly modern and architecturally impressive conference centre and for us it is a great honour to welcome the representatives of the industry among the first guests in the new RMCC."
