The next phase of research will focus on two megatrends: Demographic change and increasing automation. While demographic change is leading to an ageing workforce and a growing shortage of skilled labour, technological progress is creating new opportunities through the automation of processes.
With its 2024 research focus, the innovation network Future Meeting Space is about to analyse the interfaces between these two megatrends and to develop solutions that will help organisations to make efficient use of their skilled workforce while developing their automation potential. Practical strategies will be developed to close the workforce gaps and make business processes fit for the future.
Under the title 'Demographic Change Meets AI and Automation Requirements and Intelligent Solutions for the Ecosystem of Business Events,' the GCB German Convention Bureau and the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization IAO are continuing their practice-oriented research program.
However, the innovation network would be nothing without its strong and diverse research partners - for this reason, we cordially invite you to get involved as a project partner for 2025!
A brief overview of the research program:
- How is demographic change affecting the workforce in the business events ecosystem?
- What skills will be replaced or augmented by the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in business events?
What new skills will be required in a transforming events industry? - What tasks and processes can AI and robotics usefully automate without compromising the quality or experience of business events?
Where is the greatest potential for automation? - How can the interaction between human labour and technological systems
be optimised? Where are humans indispensable and how can humans and machines
work together effectively? - What are the strategies that organisations can use to overcome the skills shortage in the events industry?
How can upskilling, outsourcing, offshoring and employee motivation be used to overcome staff shortages?
We would be delighted to have you as a project partner by our side!
