Affinity for tradition meets cosmopolitan flair, bustling economy meets easy-going lifestyle – Munich residents are living proof of how these apparent opposites can work and flow in harmony. It is this unique mélange that keeps this city at the top of international rankings of the most popular convention destinations. For the hospitable locals simply love sharing the magic of Munich with their guests.

All roads lead to Munich

Located in the heart of Europe at a major air, rail and road hub, Munich is connected to the entire world. A mere 35-minute drive from the city centre lies Munich Airport, Europe’s first five-star airport that has been elected best European airport ten times already.

Nestled at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, Munich awaits with an infinite range of possibilities for accompanying social events laced with that very special Southern German charm. Mountains, lakes and a plethora of excursion destinations ranging from rustic beer garden to baroque monastery are easily accessible. The intricate public transportation system connects the city with the surrounding areas, guaranteeing swift and safe transport.

A zest for life meets lively expertise

Excellent economic data shows: Munich is not only a great place to live, but also a great place to work. With a well-balanced diversity of industries, the Munich Metropolitan Region is one of Europe’s leading economic regions with many top-notch German and international companies. That combined with excellent higher education and research facilities – Munich is Germany’s second largest university hub – makes for intriguing knowledge clusters (e.g. in the areas of medicine and life sciences, insurance and banking, automotive, aerospace, science and research, IT and communication, culture and design) beneficial to the MICE sector.

The perfect event starts with the perfect location

What will it be? For high-profile events with hand-picked guests, an opulent ballroom in the Royal Residence sounds like the perfect choice. Those eager to experience Munich flair will rejoice in the banquet hall of a traditional Munich brewery. Or might the avant-garde architecture of BMW Welt be best suited for the event? Munich’s cultural riches and history are mirrored in the abundant selection of venues it has to offer.

Event planners can pick and choose from over 500 diverse bids for conferences, meetings and incentives, from the Olympic Stadium that can accommodate several thousands of guests to intimate, elegant spaces in first-class conference hotels. The ICM (Internationales Congress Center München) at the city's fair grounds Messe München boasts one of Europe’s most contemporary convention centres, featuring rooms or halls for up to 6000 guests and flexible space solutions with state-of-the-art technology. The MOC Event Center in Munich-Freimann awaits with large exhibition spaces as well as a modular room concept for individual solutions.

Even during a conference expecting several thousands of attendees, there will always be ample accommodation options available in approximately 45.000 rooms in over 450 hotels and guest houses, amongst them many luxurious five-star establishments. Roughly 5000 restaurants and bars call to culinary excursions through the kitchens and cellars of all the countries of the world, ranging from authentic Bavarian to international award-winning cuisine.

Time to experience Munich moments

Neat, safe and convenient – this is how visitors experience the city. As soon as the sun warms up, Munich flocks outside – to street cafés or stylish rooftops and naturally to the beer gardens. No space at a table to yourself? No problem – joining strangers at their table is expressly encouraged and more often than not locals will quickly strike up a conversation.
Those wishing to highlight their event with a top-notch entertainment programme will never be at a loss in Munich: Museums brimming with world-famous collections, fantastic music and theatre venues, world-class orchestras and a vibrant music scene ranging from “Volxmusik” to Jazz and Avant-garde await with a slew of options, giving any event distinctive character. Needless to say that the agenda should allow some downtime for shopping in exclusive boutiques.
