Sustainability Hub for Events
Empowering Event Planners Globally to Drive Sustainability
Developed by Gevme in collaboration with the Net Zero Carbon Events (NZCE) initiative and the Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe, which was co-founded by the GCB.
The success of the "Twin Transformation" of digitalization and sustainability in business events is greatly enhanced when sustainability strategies are based on comprehensive and systematic data. The "Sustainability Hub for Events" (SHE) offers a data-driven and AI-powered tool that provides event professionals with concrete answers, checklists, and knowledge resources on sustainability.

SHE provides a variety of AI-powered tasks specifically designed for event planners and venues. These tasks cover essential areas such as energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable catering, and the calculation of CO2 emissions. Users first select a task, enter event details and additional specifications into the task form, and the platform then generates tailored recommendations.
For example, an event planner can receive a checklist with recommendations for sustainable mobility for their participants by specifying the event location and type. Those who prefer other formats can also generate a one-pager, an FAQ, or even a quiz format. The results produced by SHE always take into account the complex NZCE guidelines, transforming them into concrete, actionable steps tailored to the specific event.
Two additional elements make the platform a valuable tool for advancing the twin transformation of business events. The "Learning" module provides extensive knowledge resources on key topics such as CO2 compensation, emissions measurement, and climate-friendly travel planning, thereby strengthening knowledge transfer and the exchange of best practices. The topic of "Legacy," which refers to the long-term impact of an event at its location and within the local community, is also becoming increasingly relevant for event professionals. SHE offers specific modules that provide explicit recommendations on this topic as well.
SHE currently draws input from sources in 25 countries worldwide. The meetings destination Germany is among those providing the largest volume of data from strategies and best practices, significantly contributing to the quality of the results.
