Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Berlin Celebrates 15 Years in Berlin

28.05.2024

The impressive history of Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Berlin began in 1996, when construction of the Ring-Arkaden shopping center was started by the renowned architect Aldo Rossi. Originally planned as a counterpart to KaDeWe in East Berlin, construction work had to be abruptly halted in 1997 when Rossi died and the investors withdrew. In 1999, construction work was stopped completely.

A new glimmer of hope emerged in 2000 when new investors planned a hotel with a congress center. However, these plans also suffered a setback in 2003 when the planned hotel operator backed out. Until 2007, the building stood as an unfinished ruin in the east of Berlin.

After a final construction period of 19 months, the Andel's Hotel Berlin was finally opened. Today, it is one of the largest hotels in the capital with 557 rooms and Green Key certification, which underlines its sustainability standards.

Special highlights of the hotel include the executive lounge a.lounge on two floors with a terrace on the sixth floor and the Loft14 bar on the 14th floor at a height of 65 meters, which impresses with a breathtaking panoramic view and a 14-meter-long bar counter. The breakfast restaurant delight and the à la carte restaurant Mavericks, which offers Californian-Asian cuisine, round off the culinary offering.

Since 2015, the fine dining restaurant Skykitchen on the twelfth floor under the direction of chef Sascha Kurgan has been another highlight of the hotel. The restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star since 2019, and restaurant manager Barbara Merll was named Maitre of the Year in 2017. Before Skykitchen opened, there was a café on the premises.

The hotel's spa and fitness area extends over 550 m² and offers five treatment rooms that invite you to relax and regenerate.

Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Berlin offers an impressive variety of options for events. With 22 meeting and conference rooms as well as 15 conference suites on a total of 4,400 m² of event space, over 2,000 guests can be accommodated. The Saphir ballroom offers 570 m² of space for up to 600 guests and impresses with natural daylight and a ceiling height of six meters. The hotel's largest hall (Rubin) measures 1,472 m² and is equipped with two truck elevators, each of which can carry 30 tons. Rubin - together with the Onyx room - form the Convention Center Reef Berlin with a separate foyer and entrance. This makes the hotel the perfect location for large events.

Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Prenzlauer Berg opened in 2016 with 152 rooms directly opposite. With the addition of Wyndham as a franchise partner and the HR Group as the parent company in 2023, the course was set for a successful future. The sister hotel Vienna House Easy by Whyndham Potsdamer Platz opened with 161 rooms on December 1, 2023.

Vienna House by Wyndham Andel's Berlin is therefore not just a hotel, but a place of encounter, comfort and experience that delights its guests with a comprehensive range of services.
