Frankfurt = a Magnet for Meetings & Global Corporations

Location, Industry Expertise and Quality of Life Prove a Big Draw for the Short and Long Term

Frankfurt is so much more than its airport. Not only is the "Mainhattan of Germany" a leading location for meetings, conferences, business, and key industries expertise… it’s also a place where quality of life and central European location are attracting companies and people to set up shop there.

With so many business travelers en route through and to the Frankfurt Airport, it’s no wonder that Frankfurt has become an important travel hub … but it is so much more.

Frankfurt’s central location, easy access, and deep business, academic and research roots afford enormous opportunity for people to meet and collaborate there  -- particularly if you’re in the financial services, life sciences, technology, creative services, and logistics & transportation industries.

For example, within less then two weeks of one another in April & May 2016, the Messe Frankfurt will play host to the International Trade Fair and Congress for Heating, Cooling and CHP, and the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) 49th annual meeting. The first conference will bring together global thought leaders and players in the energy and government spheres, and the ADB program will create a platform for knowledge sharing and partner networking around Asia Pacific/global economic, financial and development issues and opportunities. ADB attendees will also have the option to more fully experience the culture and beauty of the Frankfurt area through add-on tours that are being created for and offered around the event.

While Frankfurt is certainly a draw for business travelers, many visitors also decide to go a step further to move and work there -- drawn by the high quality of life and often unexpected green space, invigorating cultural scene, and vibrant, global business community. Case in point, many US & global brands have made Frankfurt their European headquarters, including the European Central Bank, Nike, Motorola, Dell, Samsung, American Express, Accenture, Ferrero,  and Lear.  In fact, about 20 percent of Frankfurt’s companies come from abroad. Many mid-sized businesses and start-ups are also increasingly opening their doors there. All told, more than 43,000 companies call Frankfurt home.

The city is also the home to many universities including the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität and research institutes such as the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research.  A thriving art, culture, nightlife and dining scene rounds out what the city offers to visitors and residents.

According to the Frankfurt Convention Bureau, a key resource for those seeking a larger business presence in the region is the FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH, the economic development and marketing agency for the greater Frankfurt area (which also has offices in India, China and the US). The agency is government-funded and presents the cities and municipalities of Frankfurt Rhein-Main region and their economic advantages abroad in an effort to attract foreign companies to the region. Additionally the organization offers “soup-to-nuts” relocation services, ranging from individualized scouting visits, site identification and networking opportunities … to access to legal experts, assistance with work/residency permits and more.

So whether coming to Frankfurt for a specific conference or meeting, or looking to extend a company or career, people find that the cosmopolitan character of Frankfurt (including the only "skyscrapers" in Germany) has earned it the worthy nickname of "the Mainhattan of Germany".
