Keith Alm, Chief Operating Officer at International Society for Stem Cell Research

Keith Alm joined the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) as Chief Operating Officer in 2019, after serving as a consultant to the society for nearly a decade. Currently, Alm oversees the organization’s events, integrated marketing, policy, and financial teams. Alm was recently named CEO of the ISSCR, effective 1 July 2021.

Previous to the ISSCR, he was Senior Vice President and Partner with FleishmanHillard, a global PR & digital marketing agency, where he led business development for the Washington, DC practice. Alm holds an MBA from the University of Maryland, and a BA in Communications and Journalism from Wake Forest University.
The ISSCR is the largest society in the world dedicated to the advancement of responsible stem cell research - a field that strives to advance scientific understanding, treatments, and cures that better human health.

Lou Shomette, Executive Director & CEO, Psychonomic Society

Lou Shomette is the Executive Director & CEO of the Psychonomic Society (PS). The Psychonomic Society is scientific society representing over 5,500 cognitive psychologists from around the world. In addition to holding many meetings and workshops, the society publishes seven highly regarded journals, confers awards for outstanding contributions to advancing the experimental study of cognitive psychology, as well as disseminating our science to the world through blogging and social media.

Prior to joining PS, Mr. Shomette was the Chief Operating Officer of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Senior Director for Membership and Operations for the Association for Psychological Science. He has also held positions with the Food and Drug Law Institute and the Mathematical Association of America. Mr. Shomette’s experience spans all areas of association management including membership, publications, marketing, conventions, information systems, fundraising, HR, and governance.

A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Shomette holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a marketing concentration from the University of Hartford, an IOM graduate certification in nonprofit management through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Institute for Organization Management, as well as an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.




Raluca Cadar, Executive Director, The Protein Society
Raluca joined The Protein Society in April 2016 as Executive Director. She has more than 15 years of leadership experience with responsibility for fundraising, finance and operations, as well as extensive experience managing strategic planning and organizational development. Respective to meeting planning, she oversees the process of site selection, vendor securement and overall meeting planning and meeting implementation.  The Protein Society holds scientific annual meetings in the US and internationally, with close to 1000 attendees from all over the globe. Raluca holds an MPA degree from the Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University.
