Stuttgart has succeeded in acquiring no fewer than seven prestigious medical congresses with a total of 15,000 participants. Decisive factors in its favour were the region's strong scientific, economic and research standing, paired with an excellent infrastructure and new hotel capacities.
The 61st congress of the German Society for Gynaecology and Obstetrics will focus next autumn on the theme of women's health at the ICS International Congress Centre Stuttgart and the Messe Stuttgart trade fair centre. The location of Stuttgart's largest trade fair venue, with its direct access to eight exhibition halls, is second to none in Germany, being immediately adjacent to Stuttgart Airport and only 25 minutes away from the city centre. In the coming two years the "Neue Gruppe" – a scientific association of dentists – will hold its annual convention at the Liederhalle Culture and Congress Centre in the heart of the city. Directly linked to the MARITIM Hotel Stuttgart and the Bosch Areal, the Liederhalle Culture and Congress Centre constitutes an attractive complex for the congress of several days' duration.
For the first time in Stuttgart the annual convention of the German Society for Pneumology and Respiratory Medicine will likewise take place at the ICS and Messe Stuttgart in March 2017. This is also the location for the second time of the annual Prospitalia congress in April 2017 in combination with an exhibition, followed by the annual meeting of the German, Austrian and Swiss Societies for Haematology and Medical Oncology in September. The German Spine Society, too, will once again hold its annual convention, along with an industrial exhibition, at the ICS at the beginning of December 2017.
Two other medical societies have also chosen Stuttgart for their annual conventions in 2017, thanks to the commitment of the local medical practitioners who are to preside over the meetings.
The Stuttgart Region stands out as an innovative business and scientific location by virtue of its exceptional regional competencies, and enjoys an excellent reputation as an established venue for scientific specialist congresses. The Stuttgart Convention Bureau assists scientists and specialist societies and associations in planning and organising their congresses, offering a comprehensive range of services and an effective local network.
