IMEX 2010: Christoph Teuner, chief anchor of news channel n-tv, holds key note on latest media trends

Christoph Teuner
Frankfurt/ Main, 1 March 2010. The German Convention Bureau (GCB) has gained a top-notch media representative for its seminar programme at the trade show IMEX - incorporating Meetings made in Germany: Christoph Teuner, chief anchor of n-tv news channel, is presenting the key note speech on the latest changes and developments in the media.

Presented by IMEX & the German Convention Bureau, the GCB's Meetings made in Germany Seminar Days will take place from 25 to 27 May 2010 at Messe Frankfurt. The event will feature several one-hour sessions each day - a total of 15 free seminars in German and one lecture in English. Key note on future of the media

The title of Christoph Teuner's key note speech on 26 May 2010 from 9.30 to 10.30 a.m. is "Trends in the media - content, programme and technology developments in the German media landscape". The chief anchor of n-tv will highlight the current radical changes affecting all media - print, online, radio and television - and taking place in two major areas according to Teuner. One is the gradual merging of the four segments: "The Internet is becoming ever faster, television images ever sharper thanks to HDTV. And video on demand ever more common. Watching TV on your mobile is nothing special anymore," explains the media expert. In his speech he describes how this process can be controlled while still making money.

The second area of change in the media - according to Teuner- is that information is being depoliticised and emotionalised. "Customers want to be fed a different diet than ten to twenty years ago: less politics and more emotions. Many programmes that were successful in the past are no longer so. In the viewer's perception serious news now means reports on accidents, weather phenomena, celebrities, fashion shows," says Teuner. In his key note speech he deals with the reasons for this development and explains how the media are "winning" and retaining the new viewers.

After studying political science Christoph Teuner gained long experience as an editor, reporter and anchor in various radio and TV programmes and has been n-tv's chief anchor since 2004. Since 1995 he has also worked as a lecturer for television and radio journalism in various institutions and as a media coach for managers.
