Winter special

Lübeck

1st German Ice Sculpture Festival
Dreams of winter wonderland come true in Lübeck!
The Germany premiere of the frosty and fascinating ICE WORLD theme park from 12 December to 25 January 2004 will take you into the Christmas Town of the North.

The 1st German Ice Sculpture Festival and Lübeck skating rink transform the famous Holstentor into a magnificent winter wonderland surrounded by Medieval brick Gothic buildings. The theme of these unique ice sculptures are Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments.

The ice sculptures will be created right in front of Holstentorhalle on 1,350 sqm in a special thermal tent with a constant temperature of 10 degrees below zero. This temperature is necessary to keep the frosty sculptures, which stand up to 8 metres tall, from melting. A combination of special lighting and the reflection of snow and ice bathe these works of art in a fascinating sea of colours. The sculptures will be built by a team of international snow and ice artists using 200,000 kg of snow and 350,000 kg of ice.

Still looking for a venue for your Christmas party?
Why not use the possibilities of this unique setting to boost your company's "team spirit". Give your staff members and guests a unique group experience in the frosty and fascinating ICE WORLD theme park. For the rest of the programme you can opt for the cosy winter cafeteria in Holstentorhalle.
