Successful IMEX 2005


A total of 7,130 visitors, including over 3,000 Hosted Buyers, attended this year's IMEX – incorporating Meetings made in Germany from 19 to 21 April 2005, turning the third edition of the fair into the most successful since its inception. 3,470 visitors were from Germany.

The 3,000 exhibitors from over 140 countries sounded mostly positive about the high quality of the attending buyers and good business opportunities.

While IMEX occupied an exhibition space of 10,500 square metres in its inception year 2003, this figure was already up to 13,000 by 2004 and 15,000 square metres of space this year. This is 15 per cent more than last year alone, and even fifty per cent more than in the inception year. Due to its amazing growth, this year's IMEX took place in hall 8 for the first time, the largest single-level hall of Frankfurt Fair.

The Germany stand featured 143 exhibitors such as hotels, convention centres, destinations, event agencies and other service providers from the German meeting and incentive business. Due to the wide range of German exhibitors, IMEX is the ideal fair for companies that organise national meetings, congresses, incentives or events. No other international meeting industry show has such a large presence of German suppliers.

This year again IMEX offered a wide range of seminars and further training programmes. In addition to an English-speaking seminar the GCB organised two German-speaking seminars a day on the latest topics. Experienced speakers offered lots of practical advice on topics like successful customer relationship management, trust in the event business, cost-efficient planning of events and offers practical advice on how to achieve more customer satisfaction.

At the final press conference on 21 April 2005 IMEX chairman Ray Bloom also highlighted the growing success of some IMEX initiatives, like the Association Day, for example. 262 buyers took part in it this year – another new record. They met 450 exhibitors at the evening event and used the opportunity for some intensive networking.

Next year the fair will take place from 30 May to 1 June.
