New Brochures of the GCB

The GCB's task is to offer advice and support to all event organisers who are considering or have already decided to stage an event in Germany.
Our numerous brochures are part of this advice. Right on time for the new year the GCB has revised and updated its guidelines for planning and organising events in Germany.

In the new guidelines titled "Meetings, Seminars and Congresses“ we have brought together useful information that will facilitate your work as an event planner. This information about objectives, selecting an event venue, writing a request for proposals (RFP), site inspections, creating a programme, budget planning and a lot more is helpful at any planning stage!

GCB adds eleven new members

In early 2005 eleven hotels, event venues, congress centres, cities and agencies in Germany opted for GCB membership in order to benefit from the GCB's numerous marketing activities.

Cities
Magdeburg Marketing Kongress und Tourismus (MMKT) GmbH markets the federal state capital of Saxony-Anhalt as a destination for meetings and conventions. In 2005, the year of the city's 1200th anniversary, the German Engineers' Convention will be staged there, followed by the German Doctors' Convention in 2006.

Since March 2004 the Convention and Congress Bureau of Osnabrück - Marketing und Tourismus GmbH has been the official contact for planning and organising conferences, meetings, seminars, events and incentives. It has the support of 90 hotel and restaurant partners, agencies, museums and venues in the city and region.

Hotels, Congress Centres and Event Locations
The new Radisson SAS Hotel Frankfurt will open next autumn at the Opel-Kreisel, near the fair centre. The futuristic construction by London architect John Seifert will be visible from afar thanks to its 20 floors. It will feature 420 modern rooms and suites and nine flexible partitionable conference rooms with space for up to 500 people.

Alte Oper Frankfurt with its mahogany-panelled Great Hall, Mozart Hall and Hindemith Foyer is an attractive setting for congresses for up to 3,770 delegates and banquets for up to 3,500 guests.

The same goes for Kur- und Kongreß-GmbH Bad Homburg with a congress centre in Kurhaus Bad Homburg. The big, partitionable Landgraf Friedrich Hall and the four poet salons can be used flexibly for up to 1,000 people. In addition, there is a theatre with over 750 seats.

The event management of Georg Thieme Verlag KG in Stuttgart focuses on events that offer specialist information and communication for the medical market and related fields. As a PCO it offers organisers a full range of services including communication and realisation through all the other media published by the Thieme publishing group.

Event- und Incentive Agencies
DERCONGRESS is the congress travel department of DERtour in Frankfurt. Since 1953 DERCONGRESS – with 50 years of experience – has established itself as an international full service agency in the fields of congress travel logistics and event conception. It recently added events and incentives to its range of offerings.

GTC German Tours & Conferences GmbH in Westergellersen near Hamburg is a destination management company with staff members in five locations in Germany and further agencies in Rotterdam, Chicago and Los Angeles. Among other things, it offers services for conferences, events and outdoor training.

Liberty International Reisen GmbH is also a specialist for incentives and congresses, outdoor management training, sports and events, hotel and transport services. Founded in Prague in 1990, its 33 companies in 27 countries now constitute a global tourism group. One of its three branches in Germany, the Berlin-Mitte office, is in charge of organising incentives and conventions germanywide.
