InterContinental Resort Berchtesgaden - New in Nuremberg: CCN Ost

InterContinental Resort Berchtesgaden

Rarely has a hotel been so hotly discussed in the media before its opening as in the case of InterContinental Resort Berchtesgaden, which opened its gates on 1 March 2005 on Obersalzberg.
At an altitude of 1,000 metres, Germany's first Mountain Resort was built on a site used in Nazi times as Hitler's holiday domicile. This sinister past contrasts with the luxury hotel that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Salzburg countryside and tall glass facades.

In total it offers 138 generous rooms with lavish facilities and four meeting rooms (for 24 to 192 guests), spacious restaurants and terraces for a memorable stay. The meeting rooms feature state-of-the-art equipment and there's a Mountain Spa and numerous outdoor sports facilities for relaxing after business.

On the open day before the official opening it already attracted over 10,000 visitors who came to see the luxurious new resort with their own eyes. On its first regular weekend it was fully booked. For the Berchtesgaden region and its tourist industry the new hotel offers great opportunities.

General Manager Jörg Böckeler guarantees that all employees are trained in a three-day introductory seminar to give appropriate and sound information about the site and its history.

Since its opening InterContinental Resort Berchtesgaden has been a GCB member.

New in Nuremberg: CCN Ost

As of this April Nuremberg Fair will boast a new convention centre: CCN Ost. In addition to its existing 11,000 seats Nuremberg Congress Centre will then offer a further 3,200 seats for state-of-the-art meetings. The new section is particularly suitable for mid-sized meetings, which can be staged in the 19 rooms and halls. Big spaces need to be used skilfully, if you want visitors to feel at home. For this you can design the rooms flexibly, for example by separating them with Spanish walls, illuminating them with natural lighting or spotlights in different colours to create any imaginable atmosphere. And conventions must also offer a bit of relaxation. A coffee shop and restaurants Vasco da Gama and Marco Polo make sure that nobody goes hungry.

For the opening on 16 April 2005 CCN boss Friedhelm Lenz announced: "A convention centre needs to be more than just a place to convene. It has to be filled with life, with people who meet. Who share their experiences, their opinions, their knowledge. Creating a space for this is our mission."
