The world's biggest ocean research conference in Bremen
More than 700 international specialists meet at OCEANS 2009
Bremen's focus will be on the fascinating depths of the oceans next spring when the city hosts the international OCEANS conference from 11 to 14 May 2009. OCEANS - the world’s leading ocean research and technology conference - has been organised by the Ocean Engineering Society (IEEE), the largest association in this branch of research, for over 30 years.
During the conference, scientists, engineers and representatives from politics and industry will gain insights into the latest technological and scientific developments in ocean research and the use of natural resources. There will be presentations on pure research as well as marine and natural science methodologies for school children and students. The socio-political aspects of climate change are also on the agenda. An international marine technology exhibition will run parallel to the conference with leading companies in the field presenting their products and services. Around 700 specialists are expected to attend.
Bremen provides the ideal setting for OCEANS 2009: the state of Bremen is a leader in marine technology and research, not only in Germany but also in Europe. Besides its internationally acclaimed marine science institutions such as MARUM, the Alfred Wegener Institute of Polar and Marine Research and the Max Planck Institute of Marine Microbiology, Bremen has numerous companies operating in the marine technology field.
