Meeting Newsletter for Germany

Dear Readers,

Sunny perspectives for Germany these days are coming from Arthur D. Little: this international firm of management consultants has arrived at the conclusion in a study titled ‘The Future of Travel’ that the attractiveness of a travel destination will depend increasingly less upon the amount of kilometres travelled  and more upon the mystique and authenticity of the destination itself.

Big winners in this emerging trend are ‘cool cities’ such as Hamburg, Amsterdam and Barcelona. Destinations which according to ‘Traveller 2020’ attract visitors because of their inherent mix of modern urbanity and subtle  emotionality and also because of their innovative and convincing offers in the fields of culture,  relaxation, shopping and education.

The GCB cannot add much more to these findings other than to say that the results very much confirm the extraordinary success of Germany as a meetings, events and incentive travel destination over the past number of years. Meeting planners and visitors from all around Europe and from overseas appreciate Germany as an innovative, exciting and multi-faceted country, alive with tradition and possessing state-of-the-art infrastructure offering excellent value for money. And when the future motto is ‘Cool cities instead of the Caribbean’ then all we can add to this is: Berlin, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart…

One man, however, will sadly not be able to accompany us into this bright future: the death of Mr. Martin Brunwinkel on 11th July 2008 means that Germany has lost a man who was fully committed to the events industry with all his heart and soul.

Wishing you an enjoyable and informative read,

Your, GCB-Team
