Meeting Newsletter for Germany
This year’s GCB motto is ‘High Tech – Simply Fun’. This reflects exactly the same mixture of skill, talent and fun which will pervade the German national football team from 7th June onwards during the European Football Championships in Austria and Switzerland.
This sporting highlight doesn’t mean that the events business in Germany will come to a halt altogether in the coming month. On the contrary! While football professionals are dribbling away in Alpine lands, the events sector will still be working away as usual in Germany.
The Baltic port city of Kiel invites you to attend some 1,000 events based around and featuring some 5,000 sailors and Windjammers from 21st June to 29th June – for what promises to be the biggest sailing party in the world (www.kieler-woche.de). The Störtebecker Festspiele on the beautiful Baltic island of Rügen promises visitors more of a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ feeling. This opulent and spectacular open-air festival has been staged since 1993 in the unique natural stage setting between Schloss Ralswiek and the Bodden coastal bank. It features a mix of furious pirate adventures and fantastic seafarer’s tales. This season – from 21st June to 6th September – ‘The Seawolf’ will whisk festival-goers back to the year 1393 and to the bitter dynastic struggle between the Kingdoms of Denmark and Mecklenburg (www.stoertebeker.de).
The Havenwelten (seaport worlds) in Bremerhaven also present a maritime theme: MICE planners can now expect a lively world of adventure between Bremerhaven city centre and River Weser, with the giant glass sail-like structure of the ‘Atlantic Hotel Sail City’ and the nearby Conference Center Bremerhaven.
Whoever wants to be 100% certain that their event will not fall into the water will book the new Conference Bike in Dresden: when seven adults sit in a circle on the same bicycle and try to cycle forwards then a good laugh is most definitely guaranteed.
Wishing you ‘Simply Fun’
