Meeting Newsletter for Germany

Dear Readers,

Spring is upon us here in Germany once again – bright months filled with energy, colour, growth and a positive sense of all-round renewal – and the GCB has most definitely got a lively spring in its step, too!

In Germany we can be proud of our achievements and long record regarding sustainability and environmental protection. The ‘Global Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report’ of the World Economic Forum only recently confirmed Germany once again as a top travel destination – at third place among 130 countries worldwide, behind Switzerland and Austria.: all because of Germany’s superb tourist accessibility, state-of-the art road and rail infrastructure, sustainable environmental regulations and high safety standards.

The whole meetings industry will have its eyes on Germany once again in only a few weeks time: at IMEX incorporating Meetings Made in Germany, from 22nd – 24th April 2008 in Frankfurt-am-Main. The mottos of this 6th springtime IMEX are ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Green Meetings.’ The GCB itself is organising 16 gratis seminars around these highly relevant themes.  Thomas Nowak, for instance, will speak on ‘Climate-neutral meetings: trend, marketing tool or necessity?’ Norbert Taubken of Scholz & Friend asks: ‘How ethical can tourism be: Corporate Responsibility as corporate strategy.’ And the VCD German Traffic Club tackles the subject of ‘Business travel – successful, efficient and environment-compatible travel.’

We look forward to seeing you soon in Frankfurt!

Your, GCB-Team
