Meetings Newsletter for Germany

Dear Meeting Planners,

climate protection is the issue of our day, especially after the failure of the international community to implement the Kyoto Agreement. Climate change and harmful CO² emissions are top of the agenda of many conferences, congresses and meetings around the globe.

Particular emphasis is also being focussed upon ‚Green Travel’. Tabus are being exploded in a search for sustainable energy solutions. CO² supplements are under consideration for air travel, as is the replacement of corporate car fleets with either hybrid or natural gas vehicles. Even video-conferencing is being resurrected once again in an effort to cut down on travel.

Congress destination Germany can lean back and relax. Germany has been a leader in environmental protection and renewable energy technology for years now. German wind energy technology producers have a 50% global market share. This means that there is no more credible location for environmental and climate protection congresses and conferences than Germany. Visits to wind or solar energy stations are no problem. The GCB can provide lots of ideas for informative technical visits or exciting incentive programmes – almost as broad a spectrum as the field of environmental protection itself.

‘Green meetings’ are no longer a thing of the future in Germany, as can be seen in the ‘Darmstadtium’, for example. The new Darmstadt Congress and Event Centre is a model for the employment and application of renewable energies. Whoever meets here is making a sustainable contribution to environmental protection.

Wishing you an enjoyable read,

Your GCB Team
