Christmas Special 2006

Meeting Newsletter for Germany

Dear Meeting Planner,

Germany reveals its particular charm and warm hospitality in the four festive weeks leading up to Christmas. This period is known as Advent. Fairy lights twinkle brightly, warming up the dark cool nights – on Christmas trees, in market squares, in shop windows, along busy high streets and in private houses and gardens. Marzipan rolls and gingerbread men tease millions of taste-buds as the aroma of mulled wine and roasted almonds fill the evening air. Candles flicker and burn on Advent wreaths while choirs celebrate in chorus the promise and hope of a new year to come.

Advent is also the time of year when Germany’s world famous Christmas markets are held. These have a very long tradition, many such as Dresden, Frankfurt am Main and Nuremberg dating back hundreds of years into medieval times. Some 2,500 German Christmas markets, located in historical and beautiful settings in cities, villages and towns, invite you to come along and join in the wonder of Advent and to enter into Germany’s very own special Christmas spirit.

In this issue we present you with a selection of German Christmas markets along with a number of special seasonal offers.

Season’s greetings and a peaceful and prosperous New Year!

Your, GCB Team
