Meetings Newsletter for Germany

Dear Meeting Planners,

Michael Schumacher has just retired from the fast-moving and high-powered world of Formula 1 motor car racing. He set standards of stamina and performance over the years which are lauded and admired by many all around the world.

Germany is not only a centre of excellence in global motor car production and motor sports but is also a leading global player in the field of major international medical congresses and conferences as well. Up to 18,000 participants are expected at the ERS Congress 2008 in Berlin alone. 7,000 medical practitioners from German-speaking countries recently convened in Hamburg for fifth time. This is clear testimony to the expertise, facilities and infrastructure which is available in Germany and which is required to deliver at such important research, communications and networking events.

Excellence is also expected of congress centre and hotel staffs and services when dealing with event organisers, meeting planners and congress participants. Training initiatives such as the International Event and Congress Academy in Mannheim and the VDR, DGVM and GCB ‘Certified Conference Hotels’ quality seal of approval scheme are proof of an increasing commitment to and investment in knowledge resources and quality standards in the German congress, conference, meetings and events industry – the very basis of sustainable future success for all involved, clients and suppliers alike.

With best regards,

Your GCB Team
