Expansion of the Rheingoldhalle has enabled the Congress Centre Mainz (CCM) to win its bid for the German Building Technology Day 2007. This large-scale event is scheduled for 19th-20th April 2007 and will use current event rooms along with the new Gutenbergsaal (due for completion in Autumn 2006). The Gutenbergsaal will have an area of over 1,000 sqm and space for up to 1,000 persons. It may be divided into four separate rooms – each with a capacity for up to 250 persons. The Congress Centre Mainz will then be far more attractive to organisers of large-scale congresses and events.
The German Building Technology Day, with an accompanying exhibition, is organised by the German Concrete and Construction Technology Association which is based in Berlin. The congress is regarded as one of the largest congresses for engineers in Europe. 1,200 participants from Europe and abroad are expected to attend. The German Federal Ministry for Transport, Construction and Housing is actively supporting this event.
