Growth Figures for IMEX 2006 Reflect the Current Optimism of the Meetings Industry

Strong growth is forecast for this year’s ‘IMEX – incorporating Meetings made in Germany, The Worldwide Exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events’ which takes place for the fourth time from 30th May to 01st June 2006 in Hall 8 Messe Frankfurt. 7,500 national and international buyers are expected to attend, some 3,400 of whom as hosted buyers (2005: 3,260).

Not only are an increased number of firms exhibiting in 2006, many firms who exhibited in 2005 have also increased the size of their stand.  Spain, with 600 sqm, will be one of the largest along with Germany with 1,200 sqm. Market growth in the Middle East is very much evidenced by Dubai and Jordan. Ras Al Khaimah, a young Gulf destination, has quadrupled the size of its stand. South American destinations Argentina, Chile and Brazil will also be present at IMEX 2006 with substantially larger stands.

Destinations currently enjoying increased levels of interest such as Taiwan and Turkey are also increasing their presence as are Eastern European states such as Hungary, Romania, Lithuania and Poland. First timers at this year’s show are Peru, Abu Dhabi and Kenya along with tourism suppliers NH-Hotels, BMW World, Kuoni and Best Western Germany.

As in previous years Lufthansa is offering visitors and exhibitors a 50% reduction on tickets to Frankfurt from destinations worldwide.

Ulm – Meetings with All The Family

You are often away from home on business and you wish your partner or your family were also with you?  You are looking for a congress and meetings venue which will offer everybody an attractive accompanying programme of activities and sightseeing. Then it’s about time you got to know the charming city of Ulm!

Ulm lies in the heart of a dynamic and innovative region. It is a city of science and economics and as such has attracted many companies and firms who operate on the European and global stages. Along with a favourable location on the Munich-Stuttgart development axis, Ulm is also characterized by fruitful co-operation between manufacturing enterprises and the region’s many colleges and institutes of higher education.

The Congress Centre Ulm, with three halls, is a popular location for meetings, fairs and exhibitions.  The ‘Einsteinsaal’ has 1,025 sqm and is equipped with state-of-the-art conference technology as well as a stage and orchestra pit. The Congress Centre Ulm also forms a single entity with the Maritim Hotel Ulm – which can provide a further 17 halls and salons ranging in size between 20 and 325 sqm.

While conference and meetings delegates turn their attention to fact and figures, their partners may look forward to an enjoyable and pleasant programme of relaxation and activities. An exhibition of early works by the renowned group of German artists, ‚Die Bruecke’ (the Bridge) is running until 25th July 2006 in the Ulm Museum. This renowned group’s members included painters such as Emil Nolde, Max Pechstein and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. The Steiff museum is also an unforgettable experience – and not only for children. 125 years of compact Teddy Bear history!

Conference and congress delegates can also enjoy the facilities and evening atmosphere of the Maritim Hotel: the ‘Panorama’ restaurant offers not only top cuisine but also wonderful views of the Ulmer Minster and of Ulm’s romantic alleyways and old medieval quarter. Or they could always go for a cycle with their families along the green banks of the broad River Danube
